We work with several investors and funds that specialize in gold mines. Investors are usually open to equity, debt, or a combination of both and will structure the terms to meet the needs of the borrower. Often deals are structured to allow investors to purchase gold from the mine at a predetermined and discounted rate. Gold mine investors are knowledgeable about mining and usually meet with principals and visit the mine

 Every mine that goes into production has a technical report written by geologists and engineers. This report is called “NI 43-101”. They can be found on the company’s website or in the SEDAR database for a Canadian mining company or on SEC EDGAR for a US mining company. The first page of the technical report will tell you the type of report, which basically means the stage of the mine.

Production-based financing – whereby companies secure cash by selling rights to receive future production from their mines – has become a common feature of the mining industry, particularly in connection with strategic metals such as lithium, nickel and cobalt. NQ Minerals, for example, entered into an offtake agreement with Traxys Europe in July last year. For 100% of zinc and lead production from its Hellyer project in Tasmania, the company will receive $10m secured prepayment facility.
